Permaforest December Update
Now Taking applications for certificate IV in Accredited Permaculture Training for semester 1 2007
Hello out there,
We’re into December and the Accredited Permaculture Training year is beginning to wind up. We are in the final push on weeding and mulching the garden beds in preparation for the summer warmth and wet. We are also in the final days of rock wall building in the B-Block of the Kitchen and the garlic crop is harvested and curing in the dojo.
Our recent field trip to the organic business of Rod and Tanya Bruin in Tyalgum brought reminders of both the vulnerability and pragmatism of those who work the land. The previous week had seen hail ruin crops to the tune of $1000 a minute for 20 minutes. Rod talked of the initial tears followed by the decision making process in moving on from what he considers to be an event to be factored in once every five years.
Leading UK Green Party member, Richard Lawson, has donated 200 pounds sterling to the Permaforest Trust to offset his historical carbon emmisions. Permaforest Trust will be doing a 1000 tree planting as part of a LandCare funded restoration project in the river flat riperian zone of Pine Creek, the main watercourse on Permaforest's education centre property.
Our major event of note, over the last few months, is the launch of our new web site. www.permaforesttrust.org.au Replete with both public and member only forums, blog spaces and a gradually expanding resources gallery, communication with the Permaforest Trust and its project is now more open than ever before.
You can also join our email list to participate in conversations with students, members and other supporters, Just go to our home page at www.permaforesttrust.org.au and click the link to subscribe.
December 9th is Masquerade party-night in celebration of the launch of said web site, the harvest of the garlic crop and the general winding up of another year. You are all welcome to attend but be sure to reply to info@permaforesttrust.org.au to enable us to prepare adequately.
Cheers
