- A farm boy by birth and child hood raised on the land in Northern New Zealand. More recently a sailor and traveler. The functioning of the world around us as a preoccupation lead me to develop grave concern over the state of affairs on this planet. Studying a science degree in Geography and Environmental Science exposed the complex nature of the problems and many of the attributes of of the solutions. In order to see this system more clearly I needed to develop myself. So I spent four and a half years traveling and working in various parts of the world, which lead me to gain a much greater understanding and perspective of life on earth. While in India, the climax of my journey to date I discovered Permaculture after the word came to the for-front of my mind for exploration. I have come to the Permaforest Trust to learn due to the unique blend of hands on experience, theory and small community of like minded people who help each other along this sinuous path.

- earth. Lower case. Some might call it dirt. Seems to have become the focus of my interest lately. How to get creative and novel and build beautiful healthy spaces with the stuff. How to nurture it so that the balance of chemistry and biology is such that industrial inputs aren't needed to prop it up in order to be productive. people. I like them. Most of them. Most of the time. How to nurture them so that their balance is such that they can nurture each other and the Earth. Upper case. These things are important to me. Waiting to see just where they will lead me next..
